PIXELS POPULATE, SUBSTANCE VANISH
My name is Clarice, and I created the project “Pixels Populate, Substance Vanish”, with a collection of four pairs of shoes, personalized and inspired by my own wardrobe. To do this, I set up a protocol bringing together several stages of creation including the use of an artificial intelligence platform (Mid Journey), analog design (sketch), then 3D polydesign (Rhino). Following my written theoretical bachelor’s thesis which deals with the compulsive purchase of clothes, I found it interesting to evoke in visual form the accumulation of clothes, and for this project more precisely shoes in my own locker room. I therefore grouped together my dataset of profile view images of my 40 pairs of shoes, which served as the main support for this collection. I want to create an experience of having a specific and personalized pair for avid clothing consumers with a large collection of shoes, who would like to satisfy a particular desire through the design of their personalized pair(s). The purpose is not to reduce consumption, but rather to bring together in a single pair several characteristics that someone would have wanted in it, including their aesthetic choices and the morphology of their foot. The protocol would, however, work on any person who does not have a large wardrobe but who would still like to have their own personalized pair.
