Subterraneum

Our modern society is marked with the technological advancements and with the scars human has left on our planet—scars that may never be erased. Among all the human activities rooted in the Anthropocene, a new movement of thought has emerged: Subterranea. Bringing together artists, scientists, and philosophers, this movement advocates for a way of life in harmony with the environment, while using technology as a means to commune with it. Seeking to distance itself from capitalist doctrines and the destruction caused by modern humanity’s inexhaustible thirst for control, the movement’s activities revolve around exploring the environment and creating sound maps, while also sharing soil biological data on their platform: Subterraneum. Combining web radio, sound recordings, biological database and measurement instruments, Subterraneum acts as a communication channel between humans, nature, and technology, aiming to deepen our understanding of the environment.
